Profile

Hello!  My name is Morgan Morehead Hodson, and I have been at Alcoa Middle School as an English teacher since 2008.  I currently teach sixth-grade ELA, Reading Response to Intervention (RTI) classes for all three grades, and journalism/yearbook as an eighth-grade elective. As a previous student in the Alcoa City Schools, I am thrilled to return to my alma mater to inspire other people to develop a love for reading.

I have previously taught 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade English at both Heritage High School and Maryville High School.

I earned a dual degree in Philosophy and Pre-Medicine from Furman University, an English degree from Maryville College, a Master's Degree from Lincoln Memorial, and my EdS Degree also from Lincoln Memorial. I have also earned a Graduate Gemology degree from the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, CA, and have performed appraisals and repairs for both Bristol and Bragg and Lamon Jewelers since 2001. My newest role is as one of the seamstresses/costume mistresses for the Appalachian Ballet Company in Maryville, TN.

Middle schoolers are my favorite age of students because they are on the cusp of adulthood and yet are still testing the waters of maturity. This is an amusing age!
