General Music - 5th Period-A Assignments

Attach your Google Slide on the right side of this assignment. We will continue working on this project in class until it is finished. By attaching it to the assignment, I will be able to assist you if a question arises. 


Do NOT submit the project until it is completely finished. Submitting the project will take away your editing abilities.

We have spent the first 2 class periods of our Soundtrack project brainstorming ideas for songs you will include. For this assignment, you are submitting that brainstorming list here in Google classroom.


In order to attach your brainstorming slide(s), you need to:
*Download the slide as a JPEG (instructional video below if you need help on how to do this)
*Attach the JPEG image(s) here to the assignment (on the right hand side - click add attachment)

Once you have submitted your genre project, play this Genre Kahoot! I'm excited to see you show off what you know!

3. If you have free time in class left, you may explore on Quaver (you could enter this month's code to earn more Quaver notes!), or an educational game.

You MAY NOT get any items out in my class (card games, Jenga, bingo). I will have GoGuardian on during your class so I can monitor your work, especially to help anyone if I can.

You will be creating a Google Slides presentation on a specific genre or sub genre of music!

Use the attached Google Doc for the directions of this project. Use the attached image for a list of suggestions for genres and subgenres.

Use the Student Genre Project Slide template to create your project. Change the name of the document to your first and last name. Please DO NOT create a Google Slide outside of this template! Use the one attached here in the assignment.


You will need to add a reflection slide at the end of your project. See additional instructions attached below.

We will be working on this in class. You will click "mark as done" once I have approved your slides.

Today, AFTER you have completed your Elements of Music assignment AND listening example assignment, you will be creating a practice composition in Quaver.


1. Go to classlink; click on the Quaver icon.
2. Once in Quaver and on the student dashboard, click "creatives."
3. Choose "back beat lite."
4. You will create a song that is 8 measures long, meaning you must use the yellow arrows at the bottom to create more than the first 2 measures you see. Once your work sounds good, you will click "menu" then "save" at the top.
5. After you have saved your work, you will choose "make mp3." This process might take a few minutes to complete.
6. Once the mp3 is created, select "menu" again, and click "download." This will save your composition to your Google Drive.
7. Please attach your composition here in the assignment on the right side. Again, you will see if saved in Google Drive under recent.
8. Click mark as done to submit your assignment.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENT IN ORDER:


1. Watch the Edpuzzle video on Breaking Down Listening Examples. This will give you the background information you need to do listening examples. 
2. Listen to the song "What do I Know" in the Edpuzzle provided. This needs to happen AFTER you watch the listening example breakdown.
3. Complete the Google form for the listening example.

    This is an assessment of your understanding over Texture, Timbre, Rhythm, and Form. You 
    will only have ONE chance to complete the form, as it counts as a grade.
