Dr. Julie M. Pepperman

I am so excited to teach 6th and 8th grade science at Alcoa Middle School! I have been a middle school science teacher for 24+ years having taught in Louisiana, Alabama, and Tennessee. I was honored to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2007. It was amazing to represent Tennessee and meet the President and Vice President. I served as a writer of the Tennessee State Science Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. I also served as a member of the state Science Leadership Committee. I am always trying to learn, improve, and grow as an educator, recently earning a double doctorate degree from Lincoln Memorial University in the fields of Educational Leadership and Instruction and Curriculum.

On a personal note, I am originally from New Orleans, La, and attended Louisiana State University and the University of New Orleans. We moved to Tennessee in 2003 because we fell in love with the area's beauty and thought it was a wonderful place to raise our four daughters. Two of my daughters have graduated from the University of Tennessee, another graduated from Trevecca University and was a collegiate basketball player, and the youngest is starting Notre Dame in the fall. I have a sweet goldendoodle named, Maggie, whose favorite thing to do is chase Gigi, our cat. I love to read, listen to music, cook, and watch football. My favorite professional team is the Saints and my favorite college team is the LSU Tigers.

I feel privileged and honored to teach your children. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year full of growth and learning. If you ever have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
